Spring & Summer Closet Essentials 2025
This year, my spring and summer wardrobe will be focused on comfort and consist of a capsule collection, comfortable and simple staple pieces I can start wearing now and well into the summer. Styles I can mix and match. Some pieces are classic and timeless and others a little innovative and fresh. Although I am a fan of color and floral prints, my color palette this year is mainly neutral in blacks, whites, cream, grey and some stripes. My shoes are perfect for the warmer months and handy for travel walking, which I always do more of on the road.
I tend to turn to designers I know and rely on for my essentials like California based Heidi Merrick, Dôen, Xirena, Anemos Swim and Ozma (both Heidi Merrick and Ozma offer my followers a sweet little discount, see below). My new go-to Jamie Haller, introduced to me by my local boutique in Ojai, Inyun Collective, has simple classic commutable and elegant clothing, sandals and the most comfortable loafers ever. I also had to include a definitive sneaker.
I just did a significant closet Spring cleaning but it is fun to add a few new pieces to wear with my tried and true pieces like my vintage 501’s and white collared button down shirts.
1. HEIDI MERRICK - Wallace Blazer in Natural Linen
This linen blazer is a must for this summer. Its big shoulder’s scream the 80’s and I feel like Grace Jones when I put it on. It is comfortable and the linen is super soft and airy. It of course goes really well with the Chaplin Pant and I love it with the Xírena Beau shirt in white. Such an elegant pairing. I also travel with a summer suit. 2. HEIDI MERRICK - Chaplin Pant in Natural Linen

3. JAMIE HALLER - The Walking Sandal in Cognac
These sandals are insanely comfortable and can’t wait to be walking in the streets of Rome, where I will be going this summer. They go well with everything.

5. HEIDI MERRICK - Ava Dress in Noir
Let’s welcome this sexy and chic little black dress into our lives. This dress is a little bit Audrey Hepburn and a little Ava Gardner (I am guessing she inspired the name of the dress). The tissue linen is perfect for the summer. Dress it up or down.
6. DÔEN - Sebastiane Skirt
I have been wearing cotton vintage lace skirts (old slips) for decades and love this Doên throwback to the feminine flowy under garment. Wear it down with the Ozma Baby Tee and Birkenstocks or dress it up. I tried mine on with the Ozma Classic Long Sleeve Regen Tee
7. ANEMOS - Hume One Piece in White
I did a shout out to Anemos Swim recently for their non-plastic compostable responsible packaging. Now I am touting their swimsuits. I am hooked. This one piece is timeless and can be worn as a body suit in your summer capsule collection with a linen suit, or skirt and under a light cotton sweater or a throw back to 80’s style with 501 vintage jeans. Don’t leave home without it.
I grew up wearing Adidas like these. They have made a come back and they are as timeless as they are trendy and that’s why so many people love them. I love the neutral tone of this Magic Beige. The perfect sneaker to add your spring summer capsule collection.

This light blue super airy blouse is a must for your summer closet. It is so comfortable and looks amazing in white.
10. OZMA of CALIFORNIA - Edie Vest in Ecru
This easy cotton vest in a cream color is a good layering piece over a tank top, t-shirt or button down and under a blazer. Cute with shorts, pants or a skirt. I am a sucker for a cute vest and have not had one like this.

15. XÍRENA Winds Boden Linen Dress
This dress is another staple in my closet, only I have it in a black light weight cotton poplin. I wear mine belted or flowing and free. I love linen in the summer and this lighter color is lovely.

The perfect light weight jersey pant in a heather grey for travel day or for lounging. Super comfy and loving the handy pockets. Goes well with the Ozma shirts I am highlighting and the Jamie Haller Daily Sweatshirt in Natural White. Although I am loving the Navy and Heather Grey as well.

I cannot live without this shirt. It is so incredibly comfortable, a great price point for a well made button up and literally goes with everything. But off jean shorts, flowing linen pants or skirt, black jeans, with a vest, under a sweater or blazer, dress it up or dress it down. This shirt is always with me.
